The Avenger Chronicles - pre-order
The Avenger Chronicles is now listed for pre-order on Amazon.

No, my name is not on the roster of contributing authors. Yes, I am in the book (something to do with Diamond Comics Distributors needing to
notify Amazon to make the change and add me -- or something).

It's also listed on page 318 of the January 2008 Diamond Previews:

JAN08 3789 AVENGER CHRONICLES SC SRP: $17.95
JAN08 3790 AVENGER CHRONICLES SC BOOK MARKET ED SRP: $17.95
JAN08 3791 AVENGER CHRONICLES HC SRP: $44.00

Hope you'll check it out!

I had that problem with Amazon and the Buffy stuff, it took about two or three years for them to actually put my name on the books I wrote.

Yeah... You can also change and correct Amazon listings yourself, and I've done that on occasion... But in this case I'll let the inner workings of Moonstone, Diamond, and Amazon take their course, at least for now. ;-)

Do Josh and Rosabel get to kick ass anywhere in this collection? They had my favorite modus operandi out of any of the pulp hero teams. I just love the idea of highly intelligent and capable African-Americans taking advantage of the stereotypes at the time to get themselves undercover and then mop the floor with the bad guys along with the other folks at Justice Inc.

I have not read the other stories. I assume some writers used Josh and Rosabel. I found that with the short story format, it was difficult to showcase all of the Avenger's aides. I specifically wanted a Smitty/Nellie moment, so I focused on them. Mac also is part of the story. Josh is in what amounts to the prologue. Rosabel and Cole Wilson are mentioned, but do not appear.

If you want another example of capable African-Americans taking advantage of stereotypes, check out the four "Night Wind" books first published 1913-1919. The first two have been reprinted by Borgo/Wildside Press (available on Amazon and B&N.com), with the latter two coming soon, to be followed by a fifth book which is a newly written novel in the series. One of the characters, Julius, is a prototype Josh/Rosabel. (Perhaps there is also a genealogical connection... Hmmm... read my Avenger story for more on that. ;-)
